Permits and licenses

Connecticut recommends verifying contractor credentials through the official eLicense lookup. Many projects require a municipal permit; confirm the requirement with the building official in the town where the work will occur.

Seasonal maintenance

Before freezing weather, check exposed plumbing, heating operation, smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms, and exterior drainage. Before cooling season, replace filters and schedule professional HVAC service when equipment is noisy, leaking, or not cooling normally.

When to call a professional

Gas odor, a carbon-monoxide alarm, smoke, fire, sparking, exposed live wiring, or an active flood can require emergency action. Leave the affected area when necessary and contact 911 or the appropriate utility. Workori is not an emergency service.
